Fillings

Cavities form because of bacteria found in dental plaque. These germs interact with carbohydrates and sugars in the foods you eat to produce an acidic environment that will ultimately destroy the enamel on the outer layers of your teeth, leaving them susceptible to decay. As soon as a cavity is formed, the process speeds up quickly and spreads further into the tooth.

Fillings do exactly what the name indicates—fill the holes in your teeth. Fillings also prevent decay from spreading.

Composites, also called white fillings or tooth-coloured fillings, are functional and aesthetically pleasing. Made from plastic and glass particles, they provide protection and blend precisely to match the shade of your tooth.

Continue to brush and floss every day and visit the dental office at least twice a year for routine examinations and cleanings. Tooth decay is completely avoidable with great oral hygiene and professional care.
